If you’re a working mum, it can be hard to keep on top of things in the home. But, one area that you should never take your eye off is the kitchen. Not only is it the place you need to keep your growing family fed, but it also needs a lot of cleaning. The kitchen is one of the dirtiest rooms in the house and host to millions of bacteria that can easily spiral out of control.
With this in mind, I thought I would give you some great tips for some excellent tools that I have my eye on for the kitchen. They will help you speed up your cooking, cleaning, and everything else that needs doing in the central hub of the family home. Check them out and let me know what you think!
For Early Risers
No matter how early you have to get up, it’s guaranteed that your children will be up before you. And that means you are going to have to wake up fast. Get yourself a La Marzocco espresso machine and spare parts, and you will have a super fast and supercharged treat to kick start your day. And, of course, your first coffee of the day might even give you the zip you need to get everything done on time!
What is your take on blenders? There is no doubt that they are great tools for the kitchen, and do an excellent job. But, think about the time it takes. You have to transfer heavy pots full of vegetables to the blender, and there’s all the washing up afterwards, too. I prefer the hand variety. With a hand blender, all you have to do is blend in the pot you are cooking in. There’s less chance of mess, and they are so easy to clean. Get one and I promise you won’t look back.
If there are any busy mums out there who have time to slice up their veggies for salads and stews with a knife, then I would love to meet them. It’s a painful experience, and takes forever! Instead, try a mandoline. It will slice things down much finer than you can get with a knife, and they are cheap and easy to use. Onions, carrots, cucumbers – it’s all so easy and will save you hours over the course of a month or so.
For Salad Lovers
Get a salad spinner, and you can say goodbye to washing your lettuce leaves and patting them dry, one leaf at a time. With a spinner, all you need to do is is clean the leaves, pop them in, and give it a spin. They will be clean and dry for the perfect salad every time.
I have lost count of the hours I have spent chopping up vegetables into tiny cubes. And, no matter how small you try and get them, the kids still spot those veggies in their dinner! So, I have my eye firmly on one of these dicers. Just throw in your veg, twist the crank, and you get diced carrots and onions, almost on tap. Perfect for speed – and size!
