My Guide to Getting Your Accessories On Point

Putting together a mean outfit is something I consider a hobby. However, I believe that no matter how well you pair your pants and your shirts, you always need some accessories in there to mix things up. Some outfits can literally make or break with the help of accessories, so you really can’t afford to get this bit wrong. Let’s take a look at some tips you can use to get it right every time:

Dress it Up With a Statement Necklace

If you’re wearing a plain t-shirt and jeans, you can always funk up your look with a statement necklace. This is a great way to add some luxury to an otherwise plain and simple outfit. You could even throw on your favorite heels and head over to a bar. If ever I’m in doubt, I just make a statement with a necklace.

Mix and Match Your Metals

So many people will tell you that you can’t mix and match your metals. I say that this is total balderdash. You can mix as many metals as you like if you’re confident in your overall look! However, I wouldn’t recommend wearing lots of statement pieces in mixed metals. Choose one statement piece, and then accessorize around that.

Style Your Rings

I love wearing lots of rings, but it’s hard work to not come out looking like a gypsy. I have to carefully mix midi rings and regular rings to create a look worthy of Pinterest (where I get a lot of my ring inspiration). I like to wear statement rings and dainty rings to give variety to my look. If I’m mixing metals with my rings, I usually keep metals of one color on a specific finger.

Remember; Every Little Detail Counts

Every little detail counts when you’re accessorizing. I cannot stress this enough. It isn’t just about your rings, earrings, and necklace. It’s about the color of your socks, the way you tie your belt, and even how you do your makeup. I like to use a phone case with my favorite photos on the back to make a statement too. I got my phone case in less than a week, and I’ve used it ever since.

Avoid Looking Gaudy

Now, with all of the tips I’ve given you here it would be easy to allow yourself to look gaudy. The goal is not to pile on all of your best jewelry like an excited child. You need to carefully select pieces that work together, while making a statement and showing off your personality. Yes, it’s tricky, but it can be done!

Cinch in Your Waist

Finally, my favorite tip of all. I love boyfriend style shirts and long t-shirt dresses, but these can make me feel a little frumpy at times. I make sure I have a waist belt to hand to cinch me in, so I can show off an hourglass shape!

I hope you find these tips useful. If you have any of your own, don’t hesitate to leave a comment!
