Looking good on the beach has been a dream of many women since the dawn of time. We all want to look magazine worthy in a bikini, but when we look back at pictures, it’s evident we didn’t prepare very well. Bear in mind this isn’t about looking like a celebrity or model: you just want to look and feel your best, to your standards. I like to do the following 10 things to make sure I look my best on the beach:
Start Looking After Your Skin
Start doing this as far in advance as you can so your skin is soft and silky smooth. Make sure you exfoliate 2-3 times a week depending on how sensitive your skin is. Moisturise after every bath or shower, concentrating on dry areas. Apply an SPF too, to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. You’ll need to make sure you cleanse, tone, and moisturise your face twice a day. You can also apply nourishing masks for both face and body that help to lock in moisture and give you a lovely glow.
Start eating well and you’ll look and feel so much better. This doesn’t mean starving yourself; just eat natural foods to help make your skin, hair, nails, and the rest healthier and brighter. You might even slim down a little if needed.
Get some exercise in if you want to tighten up a little and feel great in your bikini. The earlier you start, the better! You only need to commit to 3 sessions a week to notice a big difference! After a couple of months, you’ll look amazing.
Drink at least 2 liters of water a day, or more if you exercise. You should cut out any other drinks, even diet drinks. They’re all bad and contain ingredients that can bloat and make us crave sugar. Never drink your calories!
Do Your Nails
Make sure you’ve painted your fingers and toes – bare nails don’t look great on the beach. I like to use gel polish so that it lasts longer!
Tinting eyebrows and eyelashes means that you don’t need to worry too much about wearing makeup to the beach or pool, and it won’t wash off and run down your face! You can buy home kits if you can’t afford a salon.
There are lots of different methods of hair removal you can use. I like to look online to see if I can find a good hair removal deal before booking anywhere. Waxing is a popular method, but laser hair removal is growing in popularity!
Stand Up Straight
Remember to keep a good posture. Stand up straight, and suck your tummy in if you need to. Think confident thoughts as you do so and you’ll look great!
Get a Healthy Glow
Get a healthy glow with gradual tan. Start applying a few weeks in advance to build up your colour.
Whiten Your Teeth
Whiten your teeth before you go with a home kit or go to a dentist. There’s nothing like a bright, white smile!
